Generations: Micha Archer, Max Strong

Micha Archer

Micha Archer is an artist, illustrator and educator living in Western Massachusetts. As a world traveler, her sense of color and pattern is influenced by the folk art, crafts, and architecture of the world. Working with gouache, watercolors, pen and ink, and collage, she creates layered pieces from various materials on paper and digitally.

With a B.A. in Multicultural Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst she taught for 15 years in a Kindergarten classroom. In addition to consulting with teachers on incorporating art into their classrooms, Micha offer workshops and classes to children, adults and other artists.

Micha was recently awarded the 2022 Caldecott Honor for her book, Wonder Walkers.

Max Strong

Max Strong is an artist based in Tangier, Morocco. He creates collages from the marginal remains of society. He constructs intricate cityscapes and texturally rich abstracts from items assembled on daily explorations. His work has been shown in galleries across the United States and Morocco. His work is found in private collections across the world.

He grew up in Leverett, Massachusetts, the son of artist and illustrator, Micha Archer. He counts her as his primary creative inspiration. She infused art in his life at a young age, nurturing his creative sense and providing guidance and love along the way.
