R.W. Alley: 60 Years of Paddington

2018 marks 60 years since the launch of the first Paddington book.  A Bear Called Paddington was first published in 1958.  In celebration, a worldwide touring exhibit will traveling featuring over 300 pieces of original Paddington artwork including works by our own R.W. Alley.

Mr. Alley has been the sole Paddington book illustrator for the last 20 years: being the first and only illustrator for all original large scale picture books, as well as illustrator of the last three novels and many other titles in a variety of formats for a total of 39 books!

The first of the exhibitions launched this February at Museum ‘Eki’ Kyoto, Japan and it will go to six venues overseas.  Additionally, in April of 2018, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA opened  Paddington Comes to America.  R. Michelson Galleries has loaned a number of works to these exhibitions and is thrilled to see them delight Paddington fans throughout the world.
