Nonny Hogrogian was born in New York City in 1932. After graduating from Hunter College, she studied art with Antonio Frasconi and Hodaka Yoshida. She started her career as a designer of children’s books but soon began illustrating and writing.
She twice won the Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished picture book for children, in 1966 for Always Room For One More and in 1972 for One Fine Day. Nonny is one of only eight artists who have won this award more than once in their careers.
