“Cats in Hats” evokes an endless variety of images. How could I choose just one? While looking for inspiration I discovered that Theodore Geisel had an extensive hat collection. What an array of fantastic hats! One of those hats was just like the hat in the famous series of books. I started to wonder, “What if Dr. Seuss had chosen a different cat in a different hat? How might that have affected the story?” I imaged the cats lining up for an audition for the part of “The Cat in the Hat.”
