From Caldecott to Coretta Scott:

Brian Pinkney 1961-

Brian Pinkney is the illustrator of many highly-praised picture books including Ella Fitzgerald, Sit-In  and Duke Ellington, all written by his wife Andrea Davis-Pinkney. Brian is a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and holds a master’s degree in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Brian is featured in the documentary Library of the Early Mind, which also profiles his parents, Jerry and Gloria Jean Pinkney.

Brian has won numerous awards including two Caldecott Honors, four Coretta Scott King Honors and a Coretta Scott King Award, and the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award.
