Erik Blegvad

Erik Blegvad (Danish 1923-2014) was a prolific children’s book illustrator with over 100 books to his name.  He attended the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts with his friend, fellow illustrator Niels M. Bodecker and moved to the United States after World War II.  He did both books for children as well as magazine and newspaper illustration.  Many of his books were collaborations with his wife Lenore including This Little Pig-a-Wig and Other Rhymes About Pigs which was named one of the Best Books of the Year for 1978 by The New York Times.  He was a long time resident of Wardsboro, VT where he died in 2014.
