The Heavenly Jerusalem – a walled city of palaces, gateways, and towers set in the Judean Mountains, with the crown and the Decalogue above – symbolizes the perfect habitation. The allusion to the Holy Temple in the center evokes its spiritual presence.
In the lower part is the built, earthly city. The fountain of living waters, symbolic of the Torah, nurtures the spiritual and the corporeal Jerusalem, and the people of Israel represented by gazelles and the grapevine thriving in the land.
