Inferno XXIV, 99-100

In the seventh pouch of the eighth circle of Hell, infested with serpents, Dante and Virgil find the souls whose sins were thievery. One shade in particular, the Tuscan, Vanni Fucci, is caught and tortured by a serpent as Dante and Virgil watch. He is a particularly rebellious soul who curses God.
