Little Crow

Those Sioux, called the Santee, signed a treaty in 1851. They felt betrayed & cheated by the pact, by the construction in reservation life & in the summer of 1862, led by the sixty year old Little Crow, decided to kill the whites in the Minnesota country. They killed seven hundred settlers & one hundred soldiers. Little Crow was shot while he was foraging for berries. His tanned scalp, his skull & wristbones were exhibited.
