The Violent Against Nature

Inferno XVI

In the second zone of the third ring of the seventh circle of Hell, Dante and Virgil run into the souls that were considered violent against nature. These souls are condemned to walk under raining fire eternally. Four of these souls recognize Dante from Florence. Because they are so badly burnt, they must tell Dante their names in order for him to recognize them.
