" I paint what I see around me and in the small towns of our area. For years I have painted old farmsteads, dirt roads shaded by beautiful sugar maples, or just glimpses of unstructured flower gardens and welcoming front porches. I paint things and places I am comfortable with, and I hope when people look at my paintings they can feel for a moment that they are there in the warm farm yard, with the hot sun beating down, or walking along a country dirt road in autumn, or hearing absolutely nothing after a New England snowstorm has passed through. I do not paint to create great art; I paint to achieve a feeling of belonging."
