is perhaps best known for his diners, his gas stations, his rusting
cars, his… Americana. He has become the painter of a fading
way of life, finding the beauty in the quirky details of our environment.
But he does not prettify. His tone is neither ironic, nor mocking,
nor sentimental. He does not evade the isolation that can envelop
