Medea
Bronze
1980

This is one of Baskin’s most powerful bronzes. The viewer sees Medea from the vantage point a (her) child would. The eye level texture is smooth and cold and unyielding. Her gaze is tortuously turned away in an icy resolve. In her hands (that give the impression of being bound) is a weapon-like object.
