Hand-colored woodcut
From Sibyls
1991

These sibyls, or female prophets, were done for a Gehenna Press volume. The bird imagery so predatorial in his earlier work takes on a more complex spirituality in these woodcuts. Ancient Greek fortune-tellers would read the flights of birds (or their bones) to forecast the future. Other prints in this series are available.
