Mexican Self Portrait
Hand-colored etching
1995

This series was done while attending a retrospective exhibition of his prints in Oaxaca, Mexico. The artist’s face peers out through the raptor’s beak, encapsulated in the bird’s cry, and at the same time the artist wears the bird like a garment, enshrouding himself.
